Exams for External Candidates
The British School of Boston is accredited to accept private candidates for Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and Edexcel International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations. As such, students that do not attend the British School of Boston are also able to sit their final examinations as a visitor.
Examinations are usually taken in May/June or November. The dates and times of the examinations are fixed by the examination boards and are not negotiable.
Additional information about sitting for external exams:
- Morning examinations start at 9:00 a.m. Afternoon examinations start at 1:00 p.m. EST.

- The British School of Boston charges a fee for each subject that is taken. This covers the entrance fees, exam invigilation, postage and marking of papers and final delivery of the certificates. All money must be cleared before examination entries are made.
- For May and June examinations, money must be available by January 15, 2011. Beyond this date, a late fee will be charged.
